How to Install SportzX on Android TV & Smart TV (2026)
Watching an IPL thriller or an India vs Pakistan clash on a phone is fine - watching it on a 55-inch TV is better. If your television runs Android TV or Google TV, you can sideload the SportzX APK directly and get the full app on the big screen. If it runs Samsung's Tizen or LG's webOS, you cannot - and any guide that tells you otherwise is wasting your time. Below are the three working methods for Android TV, plus the honest answer for every other smart TV platform.
First: check your TV can actually run SportzX
SportzX is an Android APK. It runs on any TV whose operating system is Android-based - and on nothing else. Check the table before you start:
| TV platform | SportzX works? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Android TV / Google TV (Sony Bravia, TCL, Philips, Xiaomi Mi TV, Nokia TV, OnePlus TV, Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, ONN boxes) | Yes - direct install | Use any of the three methods below |
| Samsung Tizen | No | Tizen cannot install APKs. Plug in a Firestick or Android TV box instead |
| LG webOS | No | webOS cannot install APKs. Use a Firestick or Android TV box on an HDMI port |
| Roku | No | Roku OS cannot sideload Android apps. Use an external Android/Fire device |
| Hisense VIDAA | No | VIDAA is not Android. Use an external device (some Hisense models ship Android TV - check yours) |
No native Samsung or LG app exists. If you find a site offering a "SportzX for Samsung Smart TV" download or a Tizen/webOS installer, do not install it - it cannot be the real app, because SportzX only ships as an Android APK. The safe workaround is a ~$30-40 Firestick or Android box on an HDMI port, which also gives you a better remote experience.
Method 1 - Downloader app (easiest)
On Android TV, the Downloader app by AFTVnews is available in the Play Store, which makes this the smoothest path:
- Open the Google Play Store on your TV and install Downloader by AFTVnews.
- Open Downloader and grant it file access when asked.
- Go to your TV's Settings → Device Preferences → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources and allow Downloader (on Google TV: Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps → Downloader → Allow).
- Back in Downloader, type the SportzX download URL - https://sporttzx.net/download.html - or a downloader code if you have a verified current one, and press Go.
- When the ≈20 MB APK finishes downloading, the installer opens. Select Install, then Done.
- Delete the installer file when Downloader offers - TV storage fills up fast.
A note on codes: the commonly cited SportzX code 1499898 is known to rotate and can stop working without notice, so the direct URL above is the reliable option. Always confirm the downloaded file is the SportzX APK v3.2 (≈20 MB) before installing.
Method 2 - Send Files to TV / USB sideload
No Downloader, no problem. This method moves the APK from your phone to the TV over Wi-Fi:
- Install Send Files to TV (free) from the Play Store on both your Android phone and your Android TV. Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
- On your phone, download the SportzX APK from our download page (see the Android install guide if you need the phone steps).
- Open Send Files to TV on your phone, tap Send, and pick the SportzX APK file.
- Open Send Files to TV on the TV, tap Receive - the transfer starts.
- On the TV, open a file manager (File Commander or X-plore, both free on the Play Store), navigate to the received file, and open it.
- Allow the file manager's "install unknown apps" permission when prompted, then tap Install.
USB variation
If your TV has a USB port, copy the APK onto a USB stick from your computer, plug it into the TV, and open it with File Commander. Same permission prompt, same install. This is the best option when the TV's Wi-Fi is slow or the Play Store is unavailable.
Method 3 - ADB install from a computer
For the technically inclined - fastest once set up, and useful for boxes without a working Play Store:
- On the TV: Settings → Device Preferences → About → Build - click 7 times to unlock Developer options, then enable USB debugging (and Network debugging on newer versions).
- On your computer, install the Android platform tools and connect:
adb connect <TV-IP-address>(find the IP under Settings → Network). - Accept the debugging authorization prompt on the TV.
- Run
adb install sportzx-v3.2.apk. Done - the app appears in the TV's app list.
Overkill for most people, but worth knowing: ADB also lets you uninstall cleanly (adb uninstall) if a bad install ever wedges the app.
Getting SportzX on your TV home screen
Sideloaded apps are banished to the app drawer on Android TV - they do not get a home-screen row automatically. Three fixes, easiest first:
- Add to favorites: open the Apps drawer, long-press the SportzX icon, and choose Add to favorites (wording varies: "Move to top" / "Add to home"). This puts it in your favorites row.
- Sideload Launcher: a free Play Store app that lists all sideloaded apps in one clean grid - install it once and every future sideload is one tap away.
- Button Mapper: remap an unused remote button (or double-press of Home) to launch SportzX directly. On match days, when you want the game up in two seconds, this is the premium setup.
Remote & navigation tips
SportzX is one app across all devices - there is no separate "TV build" (see our SportzX TV vs app explainer). The phone-first interface works with a remote, with a few quirks:
- The Live Events list is fully remote-navigable - arrow keys move, OK selects, Back goes back. This covers 90% of match-day use.
- The Categories grid is easier with a mouse cursor. Options: a cheap Bluetooth mouse, or the Android TV Remote phone app, whose touchpad mode gives you a cursor.
- During playback, the remote's OK/Menu button brings up player controls; check SportzX Settings → Player for render and quality options.
- If menus feel sluggish on an older TV, enable Force Low Quality in SportzX Settings - it is designed for exactly this situation.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| "App not installed" on the TV | Free up storage (TVs have little); uninstall any older SportzX build; re-download the APK - interrupted transfers via Send Files to TV are the usual culprit. |
| Parse error | The APK is corrupted or incomplete. Re-send or re-download it; confirm the file ends in .apk and is ≈20 MB. |
| Install blocked / greyed-out Install button | The "install unknown apps" permission was granted to the wrong app. Enable it for Downloader or your file manager specifically, then retry. |
| SportzX icon nowhere to be found | Check the full Apps list (not just the home row) or install Sideload Launcher - sideloaded apps hide there. |
| Streams buffer on the TV but not the phone | TV Wi-Fi chips are weaker than phones'. Move the TV closer to the router or use ethernet via a USB adapter; enable Force Low Quality in SportzX Settings. |
| Downloader code does not work | Codes rotate. Use the direct download URL instead - see Method 1. |
Safety checklist
- Enable "install unknown apps" only for the installer app (Downloader or your file manager), and disable it after the install.
- Verify the file: SportzX v3.2, ≈20 MB. A file with a wildly different size or a strange name is not the app - delete it.
- Streams come from third-party sources. SportzX aggregates unverified links; it is not a licensed broadcaster. Check your country's rules on streaming, and consider a VPN for privacy (several reputable VPNs have native Android TV apps).
- Expect ads in the app - it is free and ad-supported. Avoid any "SportzX mod / ad-free" APKs; there is no official mod.
- Samsung Tizen / LG webOS / Roku: do not install anything claiming to be SportzX for these platforms. The only safe route is an external Firestick or Android box - see our Firestick guide.
Frequently asked questions
Not directly. Samsung smart TVs run Tizen OS, which cannot install Android APK files. The workaround is to plug in a Firestick or an Android TV box and install SportzX on that device instead.
Not directly. LG smart TVs run webOS, which cannot run Android APKs. Use a Firestick or Android TV box connected to the LG TV to run SportzX.
TVs and boxes running Android TV or Google TV - including Sony Bravia, TCL, Hisense (Android models), Philips, Xiaomi Mi TV, Nokia TV, OnePlus TV, Nvidia Shield, and the Chromecast with Google TV - can sideload the SportzX APK directly.
Sideloaded apps hide in the app drawer. Long-press the SportzX icon in Apps and choose Add to favorites, or install a launcher helper like Sideload Launcher, or remap a remote button with Button Mapper to open SportzX directly.
SportzX is one app - there is no separate TV build. The standard APK works with a TV remote, though a Bluetooth mouse or the Android TV phone app's touchpad makes browsing the channel grids easier.
